Thank you Chris for putting down my thoughts so eloquently with respect to the many superior choices when looking to drink something as general as the word beer. Recently , I have slightly softened my arrogant bastard approach to the subject having now had a sip of the offending BLL itself. For now , I am convinced that anyone having tried it must logically come to the conclusion that it is not actually beer. To accurately describe BLL one must call it a lime beverage with a hint of beer flavour. I will agree that those who enjoy it should be allowed to buy it. Just don’t kid yourselves by calling it beer.

My personal philosophy is that life is too short for cheap beer. Not to mention quazi-beer flavoured beverages.

Aside from water, malt, yeast, and hops, this is what you find in industrial beer: http://bit.ly/45F4JX. That’s why it isn’t good. You don’t need anything more than the aforementioned four ingredients to make a great beer. There is nothing about them that is unhealthy. Of the alternatives that Chris offered above, all fall into this category and there is at least one a light lager drinker will enjoy.

I also find the remarks about nutritionism here problematic. North America is the most food-obsessed culture on the planet, yet suffers from the highest rates of chronic disease. The Western diet of processed foods, combined with a lack of exercise is the problem, not the whole foods of traditional diets. Slow Food and Real Ale in moderation, along with regular exercise, are part of the foundation of a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve tried it a few times and I find it to be that bad. Yes, most beers do taste better once you’ve had a bunch, but that might have more to do with being drunk.

me too, but sadly i know myself, and i’d be inviting the extra fat back. i just love beer too much and my will power, although strong, is not enough… i do agree that it isn’t that good, but i also think it isn’t that bad until u have had two or three.
